Created with purpose: Helping children discover who God says they are
There is a moment that happens in a classroom – sometimes in the middle of a lesson, sometimes in the pause between one activity and the next – when a child realises something about themselves. Not what they got right or wrong. Something deeper. That they belong here. That they are seen. That who they are, right now, in this seat, in this village, is enough. That moment is what Agape Star Christian School is built for.
Identity before Achievement
At Agape Star, we believe that before a child can achieve, they need to know who they are. Our teaching is not just about content delivery – it is about formation. Every interaction between a teacher and a learner carries within it a message: you matter. Your mind matters. Your future is real and it is reachable.
This is not incidental to what we do. It is the centre of it. The Ugandan curriculum we follow gives structure to our academic programme, but it is Christ-centred education that gives it meaning. We are not only teaching children what to know. We are helping them discover who God says they are.
Five Rights that shape everything
Every child who walks through the gates of Agape Star is welcomed into a community that holds five convictions at its core – convictions that shape how teachers teach, how staff serve, and how the school is run:
- The right to be respected – every child deserves dignity, regardless of background or ability.
- The right to dream – every child carries a future worth investing in.
- The right to be loved – every child needs to know they are cared for, not just educated.
- The right to recognition – every child needs to be seen, named, and celebrated.
- The right to achieve their potential – every child is capable of more than the world may have told them.
These are not slogans. They are the operating values of a school that was built in a village because the children here deserved somewhere that believed in them fully.
What this looks like in practice
In March, averagely 221 children walked through the gates of Agape Star on a single day – a record. They came because something draws them here that goes beyond obligation. And in that same month, our P.7 learners – the school’s first-ever class at this level – sat their mid-term examinations and returned results that filled us with hope.
These are children who, years ago, were among the first to join a small school in Namatovu Village. They have been taught, cared for, prayed over, and believed in – year after year. And now they are approaching national examinations with confidence.
That is identity becoming an achievement. That is who God says they are, becoming who they are learning to be.
A Word for our Supporters
When you give to Agape Star, you are not just funding education. You are funding the moment a child realises they are worth educating. You are funding the teacher who shows up, day after day, and says: I see you. I believe in you. Keep going. Thank you for being part of what God is building here. The fruit of your faithfulness has names. It sits in classrooms. It requires doing exams. It dreams about the future. And one day – by God’s grace – it will change the world.
