Halfway through the Year: Remembering God’s Faithfulness
Six months into 2026, it feels right to pause and look back before we look ahead. A new term opened, a new baby was born into our ASCS family, classrooms filled with returning students, and now a new gate stands at our entrance. None of it happened by accident. Each piece is a marker of God's faithfulness to this school and the children it serves.
A Term of steady progress
Term Two opened in May with energy and purpose, and that momentum has carried into July. Staff returned ready to serve, students settled into their routines, and by early July our boarding section will be welcoming back a beloved member of the team - Teacher Evelyn - from maternity leave. Behind the scenes, June salaries for every member of staff, from teachers to our cook, gardener, and askari, were cleared in full. It is easy to overlook how much steady provision it takes to keep a school running well, month after month. We do not overlook it. We give thanks for it.
How our Team works
Each teacher at ASCS carries responsibility for not just their classroom, but for a specific area of school life. Whether it is academic progress, student wellbeing, co-curricular activities, or spiritual formation, our team members own these areas with both professionalism and heart.
We follow the Ugandan National Education Curriculum while also gradually drawing from international education standards to give our students the richest possible learning experience. Our teachers bring these two worlds together every day, and the results are evident in how our students grow, engage, and begin to dream.
Marking where we began
On 15 June, our school community paused to remember ASCS's inauguration day. We gathered in prayer, grateful for the vision that started this work and humbled by how far it has carried us. Anniversaries like this matter - they remind us that a school is never just buildings and timetables, but a living answer to prayer that keeps unfolding.
Built by the community, for the community
One of the clearest signs of God's faithfulness this season has come through our own local community. Supporters on the ground have rallied around a shared goal: extending our boys' dormitory so more children can be safely housed and cared for. Local fundraising towards this goal continues, alongside practical improvements already taking shape - a new entrance gate now stands at the school, and an additional toilet has been dug for our boarding boys. These are not headlines, but they are the kind of faithfulness that changes daily life for a child.
Gratitude in the simple things
Sometimes faithfulness looks like a good meal. Our boarding children recently enjoyed a weekend of chicken, rice, posho, beans, and bananas grown right in the school garden - a small thing to some, but a moment of real joy for children who call this school their home. As they now prepare for a school tour to the Jinja Agricultural and Trade Show, we are reminded that learning, growth, and joy are deeply connected at ASCS.
Looking ahead with gratitude
Halfway through the year, we are not the same school we were in January - we are stronger, more established, and more loved by the community around us. Thank you for being part of every chapter of this story so far. We carry your prayers and partnership into the second half of 2026 with full hearts.
"For we are co-workers in God’s service." - 1 Corinthians 3:9
Thank you for standing with us. Thank you for believing in our teachers. Thank you for making this work possible.
With gratitude and joy,
